Native Mascots in Sports: A Conversation with Exeter Chiefs for Change

Members of Exeter Chiefs For Change recently joined the Red House Project community for a discussion about the ongoing issue of Native mascots in sports in the US and the UK, the damage these mascots have on Indigenous communities, and their work to bring awareness and create change in the UK and abroad.

Exeter Chiefs for Change was formed in June 2020 by fans of top English rugby club Exeter Chiefs, to encourage the club to change away from the Indigenous imagery it has used since 1999 by raising awareness of the issue and amplifying voices from Indigenous peoples speaking out on it. Watch the panel discussion here.

As event producer I was responsible for organizing the panel, writing all marketing copy, recording the event, overseeing the final edit and working with the social media team to promote live event and share the final event after.
